Yay!!!! We are actually cooler :) We are finally down in the upper 50s :) So very very excited!!!
Today is the 11th day of December. Christmas is in two weeks. Yikes!
We started our time reading the Bible - Luke 1:39-45.
We then took some time to read about Italy. Numerous Italians are Catholic. They put a lot of emphasis on the Nativity. The kiddos were quite excited about this - since we too love Nativity scenes, trying to always remember that Christ is the most important gift of Christmas.
Our book for today was A Christmas Adventure in Little Italy, by James Doti. This was a cute story, but was somewhat of a disappointment. We enjoyed the Italian words in the story, but there wasn't much about the culture of Italy, nor how they really celebrate Christmas.
For our craft, we decided to make a Nativity ornament. This was so much fun! The kids had fun sanding the cut clothespins and pressing the pieces together. And the final product is absolutely adorable. I LOVE the simplicity of it!
For dinner, we had a version of Spaghetti ai Frutti di Marre, or Spaghetti with Fruit of the Sea. Our family decided to just go with shrimp and scallops. We added a bit of shredded parmesan cheese on top. Oh my word - so yummy!
